On your child’s admission form to The Laurels, you will have noted any medical condition. Please notify the school if this changes in any way.
If your child suffers from asthma, a separate form is required. You will also need to complete an administration form for the appropriate inhaler. Please contact the school office for the form and ensure that an inhaler (and if necessary a spacer) is in school at all times. Please remember that it is a parental responsibility to ensure the inhaler is up to date. Inhalers will be given back to all parents at the end of each academic year.
For health and safety reasons, medicines in school are kept to a minimum. There may be a time when your child will need to have medicine during the school day e.g. to complete a course of antibiotics. The school will only give medicine if it is on prescription from the doctor with your child’s name and the dosage sticker on the bottle/box. We will only administer medicine if it is a 4 daily dosage. If the medicine is only 3 times a day this must be done at home.
You will need to bring the medicine into school yourself and complete the necessary form.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD IN WITH MEDICINE, it will not be given without the consent form. We also ask that you do not send your child in with any medicine/creams/cough sweets without first informing the school. Any medicines/creams which you would like your child to administer themselves must be given in to the school office and consent given by the headteacher or head of Welfare Mrs S Beck.
All forms are available from the school office or you are able to download them below.
If you have any queries about medication, please do not hesitate to contact the school office who will be able to help you.
