Special Educational Needs

We value all children at The Laurels and have an amazing record for looking after our Special Educational Needs pupils.

There is now a special website for parents/carers with children with special needs called the Local Offer. Please use this link for more information, help and guidance to the main website:

http://www.westsussex.local-offer.org

or the link direct to our school:

All children should be treated equally and this is even more so regarding children with Special Educational Needs.

If your child has any special needs or already has an Educational Health Care Plan, there may be ways to chose the school your child goes to when starting school, even if you are not in that schools’ catchment. Your representative who processed your EHCP will be able to guide you through the starting school process.

If your child has special needs and you would like to visit the school or talk to the headteacher or Senco, please contact the school to make an appointment.

The school has a Speech & Language practitioner who can take children on a 1:1 basis and various teaching assistants whose role it it to nurture and care for children who have any special needs and difficulties.

Please see the policies below which will give your further information on how we look after our pupils with any type of special need.
